My name is Marieke van Nieuwenhuijze,
Born in 1982 in Zierikzee, a small seaseaside town.
Raised in a loving family of five where there was always room for creativity. A father who painted in his spare time, a mother who was always at home. From childhood drawing and painting has been my greatest source of joy and still is today.
At 20 years old, I moved to Rotterdam for the love of my life. I still live there with my husband Wesley, daughter Naomi and son Joe.
I graduated as an activity counsellor in the late 90s and, I started working in the health care sectorI still fulfill that role, in addition to my passion for everything related to creativity and art.
I use my creative gift to provide meaningful daytime activities for people in need of assistance due to dementia, brain injury, physical and/or intellectual disabilities. In doing so, "The art of living" is my intrinsic motivation and I work very experientially. I strive to create experiences filled with warmth and comfort, ensuring everyone feels cherished and at home.

My artistic work has had a sensual character from an early age , beginning with imitations of the Dutch cartoon "Red Ears" and a profound admiration for Dali's works. I was captivated by his artistic gift. The style of surrealism therefore also has my greatest interest, along with the art of impressionism. That appeals to me a lot, as do the romantic depictions, particularly Renoir. Later, I discovered the airbrush art of Luis Royo, as well as the works of Olivia and Sorayama. Nonetheless, I remain open to other art styles and continue to find inspiration in new artists and images.

A fondness for vintage pin-up, burlesque, and boudoir styles often emerges in my art. I'm also intrigued by BDSM and do not hesitate to explore this in my artwork. The dichotomy of women's oppression versus their submission within that realm piqued my curiosity. Delving into my own experiences has led me to a deeper understanding of myself as a woman and how I express that identity, unbound by conventional paths or the conditioned norms of my upbringing and society.

Currently, my art is predominantly inspired by the beauty of the female form in all its facets. Her forms, lines and sensuality. I also endeavor to portray her erotic side and a somewhat more explicit imagery. My personal journey in sexuality greatly influences this, as the awakening of the Goddess within fuels my inner passion and continually manifests in my creations. Consequently, my art has become deeply intertwined with my identity as a woman. The revival of the full flow of my kundalini energy, along with the ensuing inner transformations, is noteworthy.
This has led to a priceless metamorphosis and has enriched my life in ways beyond my imagination.

In my work I use a variety of techniques and materials. For example, I greatly enjoy using mixed media. Stamps and letters as background, ink and ecoline combined with acrylic paint. I like to use the materials of Tim Holtz for this. His Distress inkpads and sprays provide that vintage look I am often looking for.
I also prefer using Rembrandt Pastel, beautiful soft tones combined with a mixed media background create that vintage look I love.
The diversity in color choice of acrylic paint can also dictate my choice. On the other hand, the fluidity of oil paint again gives wonderful results. I let my feelings lead me in this and sometimes I end up with a combination of both, surprise!
So feel free to take a look within my virtual gallery here and be tempted.
